Study House 5 focuses on the roof as a unifying architectural movement. The house is composed of individual volumes brought together under a roof that bends and shifts in different directions, responding to the interior spaces, building lines, and the path of sunlight. This generates varied interior spatial experiences, offering different encounters with daylight and connections to the outdoor areas.
The house is sited to follow building lines along the boundaries, road, and garden. Functions and rooms are arranged on the site to optimize light, views, and access.
COURTYARD TERRACES
Between the rooms of the house terraces are carved into the building. The courtyard terraces establish a close connection with the garden room, break down the long, narrow spaces between the house and the boundaries, and invite light deep into the interiors throughout the day. This creates transitional zones between inside and outside that can function as morning, midday, and evening terraces.
ALL ROOMS FACE A LARGE, CONTINUOUS COMMON AREA
The bedrooms are arranged to create distinct zones for adults and children. All rooms open onto a large, open-plan common area with a kitchen, dining space, living room, and access to terraces. The building is constructed in accordance with BR 2010 and equipped with a ground-source heating system.
