ADAPTED TO NATURE
The building is an extension of an existing kindergarten and is designed as a spiral-shaped structure around a group of existing oak trees, leading to a large opening in the forest. The idea is for the building to embrace and adapt to nature through a subtle intervention. The building’s spaces, surfaces, and components intertwine with the children’s activities and their interaction with nature.
CLIMBING STRUCTURES IN THE TREES
The trees are integrated, and nature’s elements – earth, water, and light – are actively incorporated into the building’s architecture and activities. For example, rainwater is reused for a water playground and kitchen garden, and climbing structures are installed in the trees, while daylight is experienced in varying ways from all cardinal directions.
The building is constructed to meet Energy Class 2015 standards, with an emphasis on using eco-labeled and natural building materials.
