The building is an extension of an existing nursery and is designed as a three-legged structure that embraces the existing buildings. The building thus defines two distinct courtyard spaces for play and relaxation. The idea is that the building embraces and adapts to the outdoor areas with a discreet intervention. The building’s spaces, surfaces, and parts intertwine with the children’s activities and interact with nature.
ABSTRACTIONS OF TREETOPS
The windows are designed to provide various views of treetops and outdoor areas. At the same time, they have different depths so that seating options and storage are integrated into and around the windows, both outside and inside. Centrally located in the new extension, there are lofts and play equipment that integrate into the building as abstractions of treetops.
