The Skousbo project divides the neighborhood into distinct quarters and integrates the existing landscape. A green loop and a central urban thoroughfare connect the area with its surroundings and promote soft traffic. The Syvmosekilen area will become a green, recreational gathering point.
UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS AND BUILDING TYPOLOGY
The project’s main idea is based on a set of key strategies. The new neighborhood is divided into diverse urban quarters, each with its own unique characteristics and building typology. The proposed urban structure is grounded in and respects the existing landscape. Natural depressions draw the landscape into the neighborhood, which is built on the highest ridgelines.
Skousbo is connected via the green artery to the neighboring quarters, and the surrounding areas will also benefit from the recreational qualities of Skousbo.
URBAN BOULEVARD
Sustainable traffic principles favor soft traffic and provide the shortest possible distance to the most important destinations in the area. Bicycles and trains should be the natural choice. The concept consists of an urban boulevard that connects central Viby with the new district and the water areas around Syvmosekilen.
GREEN WEDGE
Along the Boulevard, a high degree of urbanity is envisioned, with a variety of activity options linked to different city squares, where the activity area is particularly central. Cars, bicycles, and pedestrians mix to generate as much life as possible. The Boulevard ends at Syvmosekilen, which, as a green wedge, is the project’s second main element.
