Ejbovænge consists of approximately 48 newly built social housing units and an accompanying community house, which, with its dual function as a hub, aims to open up to the surrounding town. A meeting place that invites people from the neighborhood in. The establishment of the community house is a natural extension of research and innovation activities we have been conducting in collaboration with Boligselskabet Sjælland since 2022.

The homes are being built as row houses and apartment blocks in one- and two-story blocks, with a variety of types and sizes to accommodate a diverse mix of residents.

BIO-BASED CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES MINIMIZING WASTE

The houses are being constructed with a focus on bio-based materials, such as timber frame constructions and facades of heat-treated timber. The design phase and execution of the raw house skeleton is centered around the drafting tool CARPENT. With CARPENT, all the wooden elements of the houses are precision-cut from a 3D model, after which they are delivered to the construction site as assembly kits that can be easily and quickly put together. From the beginning of the process, CARPENT can predict the wood consumption, cost, and buildability, and adjustments can be easily made along the way, avoiding costly and time-consuming changes on-site. Material consumption and waste are reduced, and the homes are built with a lower carbon footprint than conventional wooden construction.
